Rain! Are you serious? My hair will get wet! My clothes!
Why is it that some, most, a good bunch of people think of the rain like that? Come on…..let’s admit it……we, at times, have a bad attitude with rain.
That includes me but…….
I shrugged off that attitude last night and boy, did it feel good!
Let me explain…………I have been trying to get my 3-4 days of exercise in and I decided to take a good strenuous walk last night and it was beautiful out…….until…….the rain just started to downpour…..again…..
I have to admit that at first I had the attitude of “seriously!?” and all of a sudden it hit me and it spoke to my heart……..”be childlike”, “don’t stress the small stuff”, “take the opportunity to do something different”. I then remember that I like to walk in the rain 🙂 – have done it several times on purpose!
All of a sudden my attitude shifted and before you knew it, I was enjoying the different, the throwing away a bad attitude, the rain cooling me off. In fact, I ended up lifting my small weights in the yard with the rain 🙂
Listen my friends…….it’s the small stuff that sometimes drives us crazy, that gets under our skin, however, in the scope of things, they really are small things.
It can be small things that frustrate us, depress us, infuriate us……….OR………it can be small things that make us see bigger things, that expand our minds, that give us a lift and a smile.
What’s the difference? Glad you asked! It’s our attitude and our perception towards those small things.
Next time you can witness a child play with a toy, get mad at a friend and the next minute they are best friends, chase bubbles or catch fire flies, watch that child’s attitude with the smallest of things. Better yet, witness and watch a child laugh at the silliest things.
Childlike heart – seeing things differently – that’s where it’s at. There is a special perception children hold and one that we need to visit more often. I believe wholeheartedly that if we view things with a childlike heart towards the small things and childlike faith towards the big things, our life would change.
Do something different today – walk in the rain, get dirty, make a craft, forgive like a child, play with bubbles, build a sandcastle, color a page, play hopscotch or catch fire flies.
I know, firsthand, there is power in that.
Now I can’t wait to catch some snowflakes on my tongue 🙂
Unlimited possibilities to view things differently. I hope you all try today!
Blessings!
