Next Week, God.

I told God “Next week”.

Did you ever tell God “Wait”, “not now”, “maybe later”, or just a big fat “I don’t think so”?

I just told God, in church, “next week”.  Yes, that is correct.  In church.

Let me back up and explain so you can really see why I am confessing to you right now.

I was talking to God recently in the last several months and asking him to speak to me.  I wanted Him to lay on my heart of what He wants out of me; my next steps and how to serve Him.  I had nothing particular in my mind of what to do or even my own ideas.  I was opened to what He wants.  Or was I?

I asked Him to let me know what he wants, what He desires, AND I asked him to give me the ears to hear as well. The ears to hear is very important the heart to understand is very important.  I prayed for both things since I didn’t want to miss it.

Also, my prayers for these things have been a bit ongoing over the last couple of months.  I don’t know if I wasn’t quite settling down enough, quieting myself enough, or could it possibly be that I just didn’t like what I heard him and laid on my heart?

So, here it comes.

One day in church recently I was sitting quietly, and I was having my butterfly thoughts fly in, AKA Holy Spirit whispers. My heart was prepared and softened and my ears were attentive to what He had to say.

God’s instructions came. It was a simple knowing in my heart and the request was small.

I could have rejoiced knowing I pray specifically, He speaks specifically, I receive a knowing in my heart, a request from Him, and we move on to our next step.  I could have rejoiced in that.  I should have rejoiced in that.

I don’t know what happens in our human limited brain and knowledge, and all of our feelings and stuff, but I almost immediately said “how about next week God”?

What!? What did I just do?!

I have been asking God for months of what I need to do, what He desires my next step to be knowing that the Bible says be faithful in the small things and then greater things will come.

I know.  Some of you are thinking, “why do that?”, or some of you are thinking, “yeah, I have been there”.

I am confessing right now.  I have limited knowledge, I have limited understanding against what He knows, understands, and merely of who HE is.  I do know this and also know He is constant; He is mighty and He is all knowing.  If He takes care of the smallest of animals and provides, He will do for me and you.  He knows what is best.  For everyone.  He knows what we need beyond what we think we need.  He knows what our wants will do to us sometimes and not for us.  He is all knowing.  He is all powerful and wants a relationship with us.   And He will not steer us wrong when we listen.

Did I immediately obey after I even knew I was wrong and was convicted in my heart.  Sadly, no, however, a day or so after that, I prayed and sure enough, the topic wrapped around again and came to my heart?  Indeed, it did.  Did I obey.  Indeed, I did.

You see, God does want us to have a relationship with Him.  A real one.  A personal one.  He wants us to communicate with Him and hear Him with Holy Spirit whisperings and as He speaks through His Word.  Obeying Him and His word is a part of our personal relationship with Him and a part that sometimes might not make total sense to us, but requires steps taken in faith in Him.

Why does obedience matter?  Here are just 3 good reasons.

  • God’s instructions are for our good. He wants good things for us, and He knows what is best.
  • It keeps us attuned to His Spirit’s leading.
  • Blessings follow obedience.  God wants to bless us, and the obedience opens the door to His blessings.  Psalms 119:32
  • True transformation occurs when we act on what we have heard.  James 1:22 compares hearing God’s Word without obeying it to glancing at our reflection in a mirror and forgetting. True heart transforming comes from be a doer and not just a listener.

Here’s to our spiritual ears being attuned, our heart being softened and prepared for true transformation taking place continuously in our lives.

Until next time,

A Mother’s Prayer

💖💖💖💖

Talk about Motivational Monday!  I got a wedding to attend soon!  My son is getting married this Saturday to an amazing young woman and together they remind me of teamwork on steroids!  Sorry – it’s the best way I can put it! 🙂 – through life’s ups and downs and what it throws at us sometimes, this couple has worked with persistency to grow together and have fun doing it!

What does that have to do with motivation you ask?  Well, let me be real.  I have prayed their whole life to be able to find someone and share the next chapters of their life with that person and now this season is among them.

But, as a mother, you continue to only wish the best for your children and prayer has always been one thing that I truly believe in and have seen first hand how it works.

What does that have to do with your Motivational Monday?  What I would like is for it to remind each and every one of us that God is among us and He always loves to hear from us and our hearts.

So, today, my motivation took me to the upcoming bond of marriage and the prayer as a mother.

~May these two people who have found each other continue in the ways of love, grace, kindness, forgiveness and fun.

~ May life treat them good, fair and plentiful but through life’s stuff that happens, may the teamwork get stronger and they continue to have each other’s back in words, action and prayers.

~ May their life be protected in their relationship, their health, their minds and finances

~ May they continue to look at each other with acceptance, love, innocence and may life bring them remembrances of the times love was first felt.

~  May they continue to support each other in their individuality and their dreams making them happen and looking back, knowing, their commitment carried them through.

~ May laughter be plentiful and fun times be had, may they be each other’s priority, safe zone, cheerleader and who they run to when a bad day comes.

~ My wish, hope, want and prayer is for them to love and be loved like God loves them and to experience life to the fullest for what they both need and want 🙂

That is all a mother could ask for…..

Let this be a motivation for all of us to say a prayer today for yourself, ones you love or reaching out to people you know need a touch today.

Now that’s motivation!

Happy Monday!

As the Dawn Breaks…..so did my attitude

As I got up with a little attitude today 🙂 , I looked out the window and saw the dawn breaking …..and today, it felt different.  Why? I don’t know? Was it because it was completely dark when I got up and I am witnessing the day getting lighter and brighter?  Was a revelation coming that I am about to receive?  I don’t know…….

First, I’m sick and tired – no, literally, I don’t feel well and I am exhausted and my normal sleeping like a baby routine was interrupted by an hour and half of being awake and no way getting back to sleep ?  And let me note, I LOVE my sleep so when there is some interruption, I’m not particularly happy.  🙂

But as I saw the dawn starting to break in my little attitude, a thought hit me…….it’s a start of another day and I GET TO BE IN IT, a part of it and simply put……. I woke up!  I don’t want the alternative, not at this point in my life as I am living each day to the fullest and enjoying the smallest of occurrences.

As many times throughout my life and especially through certain circumstances, I chose to think on the positive things, the things that encourage, lift up and the blessings I have versus what I don’t have. Believe me, it works even if you have to dig in and think of the blessings you have 🙂

So, thought for my day……another day……another blessing!

Make it a great day – that’s my prayer for you!

Food for Thought………

keep-calm-and-respond-39

Welcome Sunday night once again!  Yes, Monday is right around the corner and to be honest, I myself had to hold on real tight to my Momentous Monday thoughts!  So much to say and so much to whine about but you don’t want to hear my little issues I am sure 🙂

Sooooooo, I said to myself…”knock it off” and practice the very things I am saying for all of us to do together.

So here we are and what can be our thought of today and I came across one that is a pretty popular saying.  If this is the first time you are hearing it then let it be life changing.  If this is the 50th time you are hearing it, then I invite you to be with me and let’s look at our reactions to the things around us and what is happening in our life right now.

The phrase? …….drum roll please…..

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”

hmmmmmmm, food for thought huh?

Let it soak in today as I will and see what it means to us and in our life.  It really can be life changing if we start reacting and responding differently to our situations and life around us.

In fact, let’s just go one step further.  Responding is even different than reacting……

Ok, now that I wowed you and gave you this deep information to ponder 🙂 – when the situations arise on our Monday, let’s dive deep and see how we have the power to turn in around…… kind of like that turn the frown upside down 😦 🙂

Happy Sunday night into our Momentous Monday!

What’s Different?

IMG_1972

Hello!

So, I am on the hunt to making Mondays momentous!  Who is with me?  Who wants to not feel the Monday blues anymore and have a different view when Sunday night rolls around and, of course, that Monday morning alarm?  Hence, why I am posting this today so we all can read it, soak it in and already have a different perspective for Monday.

I want it…… 🙂  ……..well, actually, now that we are talking about it, I want to do my best to feel that everyday and making the best out of the small moments.  Does that REALLY mean I will have a great day everyday!?  NO!!!  Imagine me saying that with a very exaggerated, slightly sarcastic tone because that is the tone I am saying it in. 🙂 🙂

What i am trying to convey is that I do believe, in our worst of days or just a bad day in general, might not be able to hit us the way some of them have in the past if we “take on” a different attitude or tweak some things in our mind.  Is that possible?!  YES!!!  I said that “YES” with a very excited, determined tone 🙂 – Am I convinced?  100% since I have been there over and over AND OVER again in my life.

We do have the ability to view things differently, give present issues a tweaked perspective and to find good over bad.  That is in our control and if you can see it…..that actually becomes exciting.

Let’s do it together.  Each Monday, (or Sunday to prepare us:)  we will explore what we can do practically to help ourselves not dread our days.

So……..what are we going to do today?  Let’s start small – simply do something different today!  Simple? Yes…..but will you do it?  That’s right, it REALLY is up to us.  Will our day, tasks, issues….stop us?  Hmmmmmmm, this is up to us………but let’s start.

Take a different road to work and see different things.  Take a picture of what speaks to you and you can remember it for your first Momentous Monday.  Look at your pictures on your phone to recall old time memories.  Call someone that you haven’t seen for a while but they have been on your mind.  Listen to a different song or play your favorite song and dance while no one is watching.  Write down a goal and re-visit it often. Try a different food and explore.

Here’s something different – let’s all put our phones down in this day and age and have a real time conversation and re-connect 🙂 –

Last but not least, if you really are having a bad day, and I have had them a plenty, yet you still want to press through in faith and hope, you could write some things down that you are thankful for, proud of or things that make YOU smile and say a small prayer.  Perhaps, reflecting on them will help you throughout your day.

Let me know what kinds of different things you did to make your Monday momentous!

Happy Monday-ing !  🙂

MOMENTOUS MONDAYS!

Making it a Momentous Monday!!!

Ok my friends……. we are embarking on making Monday’s Momentous.

First, the definition of momentous – 1) sufficiently great    2) important to be worthy of attention  3) noteworthy.

Second, the synonyms of momentous – notable, worth of attention, remarkable, important, of importance

Are they NOT powerful words and meanings?!  What did that do to you just reading those definitions?  A little different than what we are used to when we are thinking about Mondays, right?

But what if?

What if we started thinking about Monday’s in a different way? What if we didn’t have such a negative perception of Mondays? Where did that even come from anyway?

Why not make Mondays something different?

I can’t wrap my head around why we don’t embrace it at times as a beautiful day just because we are getting up!

Hold on please……. am I saying that I wake up every Monday so hoping to run into work and get my work on?   No! Not every Monday!    🙂 HOWEVER, sometimes I feel like that on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday!  So, what’s the difference of waking up and charging the day or waking up and already can’t wait until nighttime?

Gratefulness………. gratefulness from our heart………. deep within our hearts….. that’s where its at my friends.  Gratefulness and thankfulness.

Ahhhhhhh, when we have that, it so changes our perception on just about everything we have, we are and what situation is going on in our life.  Yes, even the most challenging seasons in our life make us who we are and stronger.

What I do think we need to be reminded of are the great things we do have…………family, friends, loved ones, a job, the ability to work, think, grow, make money and so much more!

So, how can we make this a Momentous Monday?

Take time, sit and just think for a moment of the things you do have, the things you are thankful for, the things you couldn’t imagine your life without and some things we possibly take for granted.

If we learn to be thankful in the smallest of things, our attitudes will change to be thankful in the bigger things and possibly even the most challenging of times.

Food for thought!  Go ahead….. make today a Momentous Monday!  Hope your day is great!

Time for a laugh!

YOU GOTTA WATCH THIS!

Just click on the link above!  First – I do NOT own the rights to this video.  It has been all over Facebook, however, I will say that this video is hilarious!  If anyone knows me, I love to laugh and find humor in all that I can and this video certainly brought laughter!

I had to share it with all of you as well – not only because it’s hilarious – but also because it parallels so much of the human nature in all of us!

I will make this blog short and sweet – we all have a human nature side that when we get caught in doing something we shouldn’t, we want to “slide” as smoothly as we can out of the pool AND try not to be noticed. (figuratively speaking of course!) .

Before he got caught, he was about as happy as a lark -lol- doing his own thing but ALSO knew he should not be where he was when his owner saw him!

Doesn’t that parallel our human nature?

Going one step further, don’t we have the tendency to “bark” back when we have done something wrong or have missed the mark?

I don’t know about you, but I think that this video says so much and is elegantly or hilariously portrayed by man’s very own best friend – a dog 🙂

I hope you all have a laugh and a smile that stays with you! 🙂
