Keep It In Balance

https://butterflythoughts.podbean.com/e/keep-it-in-balance/ – Visit PODBEAN Podcast.

Hi!  It’s Kelly Savage with the Butterfly Thoughts Podcast.  Welcome and Thank you for joining me as we take our transformation journey day by day, thought by thought and we are doing it together! In a few short minutes a day, we provokingly reflect and challenge ourselves to a different perspective….. starting with just one thought.  I coined them Butterfly Thoughts because we need to be reminded that transformation comes in stages and can bring about beauty for butterflies and our lives.

Today’s episode is……”Keep It In Balance”

So, today was one of those days.   I am afforded the opportunity to work a Saturday to have a day off during the week. Saturdays along with my other work days, I work hard and get an impressive amount of work done. You see,  I am definitely one that is driven by productivity.

So, there I am, at home, starting my day at my work computer.  On my day off.  Answering emails, finishing a spreadsheet and boom, my butterfly thought flew in.  Well, maybe BOOM is the wrong adjective there but I will say the thought came not as quietly as most butterflies fly in.

“Keep it in balance” – that it all I heard but honestly …….it is all I needed to hear.

I was reminded that  …. I work hard, but I can play just as hard. That’s the beauty of balance and my reminder brought that beauty into my mind and gave me a choice, a decision, to keep it in balance.

Food for Thought………

keep-calm-and-respond-39

Welcome Sunday night once again!  Yes, Monday is right around the corner and to be honest, I myself had to hold on real tight to my Momentous Monday thoughts!  So much to say and so much to whine about but you don’t want to hear my little issues I am sure 🙂

Sooooooo, I said to myself…”knock it off” and practice the very things I am saying for all of us to do together.

So here we are and what can be our thought of today and I came across one that is a pretty popular saying.  If this is the first time you are hearing it then let it be life changing.  If this is the 50th time you are hearing it, then I invite you to be with me and let’s look at our reactions to the things around us and what is happening in our life right now.

The phrase? …….drum roll please…..

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”

hmmmmmmm, food for thought huh?

Let it soak in today as I will and see what it means to us and in our life.  It really can be life changing if we start reacting and responding differently to our situations and life around us.

In fact, let’s just go one step further.  Responding is even different than reacting……

Ok, now that I wowed you and gave you this deep information to ponder 🙂 – when the situations arise on our Monday, let’s dive deep and see how we have the power to turn in around…… kind of like that turn the frown upside down 😦 🙂

Happy Sunday night into our Momentous Monday!

What’s Different?

IMG_1972

Hello!

So, I am on the hunt to making Mondays momentous!  Who is with me?  Who wants to not feel the Monday blues anymore and have a different view when Sunday night rolls around and, of course, that Monday morning alarm?  Hence, why I am posting this today so we all can read it, soak it in and already have a different perspective for Monday.

I want it…… 🙂  ……..well, actually, now that we are talking about it, I want to do my best to feel that everyday and making the best out of the small moments.  Does that REALLY mean I will have a great day everyday!?  NO!!!  Imagine me saying that with a very exaggerated, slightly sarcastic tone because that is the tone I am saying it in. 🙂 🙂

What i am trying to convey is that I do believe, in our worst of days or just a bad day in general, might not be able to hit us the way some of them have in the past if we “take on” a different attitude or tweak some things in our mind.  Is that possible?!  YES!!!  I said that “YES” with a very excited, determined tone 🙂 – Am I convinced?  100% since I have been there over and over AND OVER again in my life.

We do have the ability to view things differently, give present issues a tweaked perspective and to find good over bad.  That is in our control and if you can see it…..that actually becomes exciting.

Let’s do it together.  Each Monday, (or Sunday to prepare us:)  we will explore what we can do practically to help ourselves not dread our days.

So……..what are we going to do today?  Let’s start small – simply do something different today!  Simple? Yes…..but will you do it?  That’s right, it REALLY is up to us.  Will our day, tasks, issues….stop us?  Hmmmmmmm, this is up to us………but let’s start.

Take a different road to work and see different things.  Take a picture of what speaks to you and you can remember it for your first Momentous Monday.  Look at your pictures on your phone to recall old time memories.  Call someone that you haven’t seen for a while but they have been on your mind.  Listen to a different song or play your favorite song and dance while no one is watching.  Write down a goal and re-visit it often. Try a different food and explore.

Here’s something different – let’s all put our phones down in this day and age and have a real time conversation and re-connect 🙂 –

Last but not least, if you really are having a bad day, and I have had them a plenty, yet you still want to press through in faith and hope, you could write some things down that you are thankful for, proud of or things that make YOU smile and say a small prayer.  Perhaps, reflecting on them will help you throughout your day.

Let me know what kinds of different things you did to make your Monday momentous!

Happy Monday-ing !  🙂

Tit for Tat

Ok, I admit it, the title “Tit for Tat” just jumped in my head!  And this blog isn’t exactly about tit for tat.  It popped in my head and I went for it 🙂

Actually it’s a blog about a random act of kindness.  A lot of us have done them, received them and we have certainly read about them and saw videos on them.  Personally, I love them.

It changes the normal atmosphere that we have around us.  We could all be just sitting there and all of a sudden, a random act of kindness is done on us or one we witness and, BAMN!, our atmosphere just got lighter, possibly more happy and possibly effect us big time!

That’s what happened to me.  My husband and I were enjoying a little dinner at a local Chinese restaurant.  We were facing towards the outside and people watching (one of my favs) 🙂 and enjoying each other’s company.

My husband told me that the owner/manager of the restaurant had helped him carry out a water heater from the store just the other day.  As we sat there, that same man pulled up and was unloading his car with very heavy items of all sort.

I witness my husband, as he quickly said “I will be right back” and left his meal on the table.  My husband proceeded to go outside and help them carry the heavy items with them.  There, he was met with smiles, thank yous and that changing atmosphere became very real…..not only in them, but my husband as well.  It was very clear that it touched my heart as I just fell in love with my husband again, at that moment.

Acts of kindness are game changers.  Before you know it, that owner/manager was bringing us some free treats which, of course, if you know my husband, he absolutely loves most foods 🙂 and he certainly enjoyed those treats that day! 🙂

Random acts of kindness?  They can truly be the changing force we so need in the world we live.

Let’s take a moment to think on those acts.  Let’s start at home.  What can we do for those right around us today?

Bottom line:  Let’s be what we want to see in the world 🙂

Let’s shoot for making this Monday Momentous !!

SHHHHH………..

Ok….I have an experiment for everyone.  I did it and it became real.  It isn’t the first time I did it and certainly won’t be the last because of the mere fact that every time I do it, it brings on insight and growth.

So, before we proceed, if you don’t want insight and growth and I do know people who have said “no thanks”, you might not want to do this.

Remember, if we are staying in the attitude of love, then every person has the ability to choose and we would love them through that choice.  It doesn’t mean that we condone or even agree with what people do and vice versa, may not agree with what I do, but love would still be present allowing for people to grow more as they desire.

First, before we get to the experiment, that last paragraph paralleled something in the Bible – judgement.

What I try to bring to my writing and I truly hope it comes across is that I, myself, am a believer in God, Jesus, the Cross, redemption and the fact that I believe in the Bible’s teachings.  I also will not argue, debate or “thoroughly discuss” as some have put it unless we want to get into a deep conversation about God’s love.

What I also try to bring to the table in my writings is I am not here to judge, nor do I want the job as it is way too burdensome and heavy for me to carry.  I try to give out scriptures for people to read, pray on, and ponder for themselves and if they want more understanding, my hope is that they ask God through prayer to shed light on the scriptures.

My relationship is with God, through Jesus, and I am not here to preach it, pound it, throw it or Bible beat anyone.  I am here to try, my very best, to live the Bible and its’ teachings, which by the way, is not always easy.

Now……….experiment time!!!!!  Who’s in?

Take 30 minutes or even 20 minutes if you can’t take 30 🙂 –

Sit in a room…..no TV, no cell phone, no one else, no radio, no music, no noise.  I know……. it just became real already in the world we live in!

Take a note pad and pen in your silent room.

Ready? Go!

What is on your mind?  The first 5 minutes or possibly 10, will be all the things racing through your head…..what you need to get done, what you forgot, how silly this experiment is……..all kinds of things will race through your mind………….yet, sit, wait and write down what ALSO is on your mind.  What is your heart trying to tell you.  What IS bothering you?  What images come?  Maybe it’s a word, phrase, paragraph or images.

To make this even more intense, take the leap of faith in prayer and ask to be shown something that needs to be addressed in your life, your heart, to come to a place of working through things.  Everyone has “things”.  Everyone has something that they could improve or need healing of some sort.  Sometimes, just sometimes, you get something much more out of it than you even expected.

This has been a very successful experiment with me countless times.  My mere desire was to share with you and hope you get just a little out of it, well, a lot of out it 🙂

Again, I will say it as a disclosure, if you don’t want to look deeper in your life where sometimes we all have to grow or heal, this experiment might not be for you.

I hope it is and you are touched deeply today.

Experiment on!

Christianity 101

Love.

Not enough information?  Ok – Let me try this…….

John 13:34 – “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another”

Galatians 5:14 – The entire Law is fulfilled in a single decree: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Galatians 6:2 – “Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the Law of Christ.”

Does that clarify some things?  It does for me.

I could keep on giving scriptures but if we soak on those for awhile, it would change us with just those.

I am a simple person and I don’t like to complicate things or confusion.  I am also the kind of person that likes truth.  Does truth feel good all the time?  No.  However, when truth, spoken in love, can help me, as a  person, to see things and consequently, with the same love, be there for that person.

Does truth challenge me at times?  Yes.  However, when truth challenges me, it means I have am getting there – I am growing – I am seeing things inside myself that can be tweaked to maturity and I haven’t reached the end.

Here’s the big question…………

Have I perfected the love road at all times?  No.  God’s love will continue with me to the very day that I leave earth and to go be with the Perfect One.  In the meantime, I have His love, unconditional love, and our call is to freely give out that love to others.  The thing we need to see is loving people, with unconditional love, is powerful and life-changing.

That’s Christianity 101.

This is not what I say.  The theme of love, us receiving it and living and giving love out, is all over the Bible.  You know the old saying – don’t shoot the messenger.

I am also one that will never argue or debate the Bible.  The theme of love has been shown to me time and time again, trusted and true and never failed…………mostly when I have asked to see how love is flowing in my life.  We ask and we receive.  Maybe not exactly how we want it, feel we should have it or when we should, but if we seek, we will find.

Here is the thing………….Each of our walks need to be walked individually…….I am where I am in my view of life, some are at other places.  The common denominator should be love and acceptance of where others are at in their life as they grow.  God is always there. No doubt for me.  As I walk with Him, talk with Him, spend time with Him, and seek answers out, it is constantly shown.

And that, my friends, is peace in the heart.

I do pray that all have a wonderful 4th of July, remember those who fight/have fought for our freedom we have, receive love from God and freely flow it out to others.

With Love,

Kelly
